Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

The Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines (ACVM) Team within the Assurance Directorate is excited to advise on the establishment of a new team focusing on the management of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) relating to the regulation of agricultural compounds and veterinary medicines. A key role is the Team Manager AMR to manage the work programme and staff in this area.

The role will be accountable for providing guidance and support for the AMR team who are responsible for the day-to-day management of AMR within the ACVM regime and wider MPI; and day-to-day management of the AMR team. A big focus of this role is team management. You will have 3-4 direct reports and pride yourself on your fantastic leadership ability.

This role is also part of the management team for the ACVM Team, and will report to the Manager ACVM Programmes & Appraisals

Some of your core day to day duties will involve the following:

  • Management of the AMR work programme covering antibiotic product stewardship, surveillance, monitoring, and training and outreach
  • Liaison with ACVM technical team and the System Audit teams
  • Leading a team of highly skilled professionals
  • Providing coaching and mentoring to team members

 

Mōu - About You

Ideally you will have a background in either veterinary science, biomedical science or biological sciences and experience in staff and stakeholder management and risk management. Knowledge and understanding of ACVMs, particularly on AMR is desirable.

You will have strong written and verbal skills and well-rounded analytical and problem-solving attributes. Experience in planning and delivery in operational, regulatory or policy settings. Management experience is essential.

You will be available to work in Wellington. Flexible working arrangements are available.
