About the Role

The Customer Response Branch is accountable for ensuring the safety and amenity of our Sunshine Coast Community through the provision of services including biosecurity.

We are seeking a Team Leader to provide leadership and support to the Feral Animal Education and Control team. The role will undertake planning, research and monitoring, targeted control and on-ground actions, community capacity building, community engagement and education and regulatory activities. This aligns to the Sunshine Coast Council Local Government Area Biosecurity Plan 2017 and the Biosecurity Act 2014

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage the preparation, implementation and review of feral animal education and control projects and programs, including overseeing the physical, financial and administrative aspects and reporting performance.
  • Develop and contribute specialist knowledge to strategies, policies, standard operating guidelines, reports, briefings, submissions and discussion papers on current and emerging issues relevant to the feral animal education and control projects and programs.
  • Liaise effectively, professionally and positively with members of the community, staff, Councillors external consultants, sub-consultants, contractors or suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of projects/programs/services.
  • Coordinate consultation and community engagement processes relevant to community action and engagement programs using a high level of judgement, problem solving, decision making and communication skills.
  • Engage and oversee the management of contract services, including initiation of quality assurance protocols, and principles of project management, to ensure excellence in service, best value for money, and to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope.

 

About you

You are tertiary qualified in either Natural Resource Management or Environment Health and/or have recent significant experience within the industry. You have demonstrated operational experience in mobilising and handling small plant, equipment and fleet, including management of associated storage facilities.

As someone with strong team leadership skills, you possess the ability to develop team members, plans and projects to support their goals and aspirations. Complementing this are your high level organisational and time management skills including the ability work autonomously and to supervise, direct and coordinate the work of others, prioritise work, initiate measures of quality assurance.

The successful candidate must be available for an on call roster and/or out of hour demands relating to feral animal response.

  • appointment to this position is subject to satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
