  • Annual Band 6 Salary range from $81,777 to $88,340 plus statutory superannuation
  • Exciting opportunity to lead an established operating team in the City of Ballarat

ABOUT THE ROLE

The City of Ballarat is currently seeking an experienced individual to lead our Animal Management Services team servicing the Ballarat municipality in providing oversight of Council’s Animal Management Services (ranger service), coordinating responsible pet ownership, education programs and response to animal investigations and prosecutions.

This full-time role will enjoy a Monthly RDO and will be responsible for the following delivery of services:

  • The successful candidate would be responsible for coordinating the investigation, preparation of evidence and Court documents and would represent Council at the Magistrate’s Court.
  • This position will provide oversight of the two animal management officers and would provide ongoing advice to internal and external stakeholders, including our community.
  • This role reports and provides support to the Animal Services Coordinator. Internal liaisons are with the Animal Shelter team and the broader Regulatory Services team and will be responsible for implementing new and updated state legislation.


TO BE SUCCESSFUL

To be successful within this position the ideal candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of application of the Domestic Animals Act 1994, Impounding of Livestock Act 1994, Local Government Act 1989 and Council's Local Laws.
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or significant experience in Animal Management with experience in handling dogs and livestock.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software such as word processing and database packages.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare letters, memoranda’s, investigation reports and brief preparation.
  • Ability to gather and record information and provide recommendations on animal management issues.
  • Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Experience in dealing with difficult customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and monitor adherence to health and safety policies and procedures within a team environment.
  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
