About the role
TAFE NSW is looking for individuals with current industry experience and knowledge in the Animal Care Industry to join our team of teachers to deliver training to a range of student cohorts at the Wauchope, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Wollongbar, and Kingscliff campuses.
The role is responsible for a range of activities, which supports learners, and enhances the student learning experience. As a professional educator you will skill the workforce of tomorrow by constructing and guiding the educative process with a mixture of workshop and classroom delivery. In the role, you will deliver face-to-face and virtual educational programs and facilitate practical learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.
The role requires you to tailor your delivery to animal care trainees already working in the veterinary, animal care services, and exhibited animal industry’s but need further training, and entrant level students wishing to work or transition into the Animal Care industry. Students are expected to be made up of a diverse group of young and mature adult learners from all over NSW.
About You
Ideally, the candidate would have had greater than 3 years’ experience in an animal care industry role such as veterinarian, veterinary nurse, groomer, shelter or pound worker, keeper at a wildlife or zoo facility or animal training and behaviour specialist.
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:
1. Minimum Certificate III or higher in Animal Care such as Certificate III in Captive Animals, Companion Animal Care or Veterinary Nursing.
2. Certificate IV TAE40116 or equivalent
3. Have a minimum of three (3) years relevant and post-qualification in the Animal Care industry no longer than five (5) years previously
4. The ability to understand the content of the learning materials and the processes used in the discipline
5. Effective literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
