About the opportunity
The Staff Veterinarian – Anaesthesia Internship will provide the best teaching delivery in small animal anaesthesia to DVM students. This position will include best-practice veterinary services in small animal anaesthesia to referral clients of the Sydney University Veterinary Teaching Hospital (UVTHS). The successful applicant will be supervised by the anaesthesia academics, clinical specialists, and registrars, to deliver practical classes to DVM students and provide close supervision of clinical year veterinary students rotating through the service.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- assist with the training of DVM students including clinical rounds, tutorials and practical classes where required
- provide anaesthesia support to the spey and neutering clinic
- provide high quality veterinary clinical anaesthesia services to small animals
- ensure quality and continuity of service in the anaesthesia unit
- participate actively in dissemination of knowledge through self-instructions and continuing education by attending clinical rounds and journal club
- provide excellent small animal anaesthesia services under the supervision of senior veterinary anaesthetists.

- a veterinary degree registrable in NSW
- some experience in veterinary anaesthesia

- has outstanding communication skills with clients, colleagues and undergraduate veterinarians
- can teach DVM veterinarian students
- willingness to contribute to regular late shift rosters.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
