Small Animal Vet – Independent practice – FT or PT opportunities

We have an opportunity for a colleague with a minimum of two years’ experience to join our existing small animal team of 18 vets. We are part of the proudly independent George Veterinary Group with a Hospital and three local branches based in Malmesbury, the oldest Borough in England and gateway to the southern end of the Cotswolds an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

In a stimulating and supportive working environment, we encourage clinical freedom and case continuity; helping us to deliver a high standard of care. Support is always available from our friendly and approachable team of vets which has a wide depth of knowledge, with certificate holders and others working towards the qualification, as well as visiting specialists.  We are VetGDP accredited by the RCVS and recruit two new graduates annually to our new graduate programme. Our superb nurse and administration team includes our own dedicated night nurses, who all ensure high professional standards of care and support. In fact, we have just been assessed as “Outstanding” in In-patient Service in a recent RCVS PSS Awards Assessment.

We value the care our colleagues bring to both our patients and that they show each other. With a 4-day week and 1:15 OOH rota, we place a strong emphasis on work-life balance.

Our “George Forum” meets regularly with representation from each department to give feedback and bring new ideas to help guide the direction of the practice and improve our working environment. Some of the more recent improvements driven by the forum have been an enhanced maternity pay package, additional childcare support, and top-up support for those meeting jury service requirements.

We also love an opportunity to get together, either through wellbeing events or charitable endeavours. Our Wellness Week encourages discussion around mental health, and we ensure we always make time for socialising outside of work. We always have a high attendance at our summer and Christmas parties!

We have a Sustainability group which proudly achieved silver accreditation from Investors in the Environment in 2022 – check out our sustainability page on the website.  In our recent RCVS PSS Awards Assessment, we also achieved “Outstanding” for Environmental Sustainability.

As a hospital, we have all the equipment you would expect. You will have access to 5 days and £1750 CPD allowance (FTE) and RCVS and BSAVA memberships paid.
