Our Animal Nutrition segment is a core focus of the MAURI business & comprises approximately 30% of our business with feed manufacturing facilities in Sydney, Perth and Rangiora. Providing quality feed to a range of large and small commercial livestock producers.


About the Role

A great opportunity is available for an experienced Site Nutritionist to join our Animal Nutrition team in Perth, Western Australia.

The role includes servicing the feed operations and the newly built feed mill in WA. The responsibilities of this role also include:

  • Maintaining diet integrity and providing nutritional advice to clients and potential clients along with being a key member of a multifunctional team that interfaces with operations, sales, quality, and procurement.
  • Designing fit for purpose diets, driving a strong commercial focus that involves value-based advice to clients, and supporting internal sales team members will be a major focus of this role.
  • Along with nutrition, there is a responsibility to support all aspects of feed safety, quality culture, and resolving feed quality issues with both customers and our internal team. This may require out of hours support for the feed mill.
  • Participate in material evaluation for purchasing decisions using maximum value and least cost programming methodology (multi-mix and sensitivity testing).
  • Ensure all customer technical reports are updated and sent out according to requirements
  • Liase with Customers and their nutrition and vetinary teams to optimise performance of our feed.
  • Provide technical advice to team members, clients and non-clients regularly. Be the subject matter expert, providing coaching and advice on Feed Safety and the application of the company's products.
  • Ensure the quality of Feed meets specifications and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Partner with team members to investigate non-conformances, and identify and resolve corrective actions.
  • Practice GWF values and be a role model for the department, both in performance & behaviour.
  • Uphold the safety culture and proactively look for ways to improve.

About You

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in monogastric(swine/poultry) nutritionist (Science Degree in Agriculture discipline with an animal nutrition component) who has feed Formulation Program knowledge and experience in animal production systems, preferably in a hands-on capacity.
  • Play an active role in building technical nutrition knowledge, improving processes and collaboratively drive adherence to QA programs
  • The desire and drive to simplify feeds, improve animal health and reduce the use of antibiotics in feeds.
  • Awareness of the duty of care for animals and driven to ensure animal safety.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional fast-paced environment.Thinks on their feet, process driven, efficient and can meet timelines.
  • Collaborative, engaging and positive influence on others would be beneficial personality traits.
  • Australian commodity market understanding and exposure to investigating root cause analysis to solve customer queries and challenges.
  • Exposure to sales, strong commercial acumen, resilience, persistence and a genuine customer attitude are all essential to your success in this role.
