- Base Salary HEO 7 (38 hours), $108,608 p.a. - $118,324 p.a. + 17% superannuation
About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Veterinary Pathologist to work as part of the Veterinary Pathology Diagnostic Services Camden that services the University Veterinary Teaching Hospitals and external stakeholders. In this role, you will provide timely diagnostic pathology services, including postmortem examinations, cytology, and histopathology, and contribute to clinical teaching and supervision of DVM veterinary students and postgraduates in the SSVS Veterinary Pathology Diagnostic Services. You will perform monthly audits in the clinical and anatomical pathology laboratories as per NATA requirements and provide continued management, support, and development of the laboratory electronic records management and reporting systems. Furthermore, you will actively support the school research mission through the provision of high quality veterinary anatomical pathology interpretation and seek out opportunities to contribute to research by external researchers and clinicians.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- provide a critical part of the anatomical and clinical pathology diagnostic service in a team environment, including necropsy (equine, livestock, small animals and exotics/wildlife), biopsy and cytology services
- contribute to clinical teaching/training and supervision of DVM students and postgraduates in the SSVS Veterinary Pathology Diagnostic Services
- support the laboratory technical team through mentorship, monthly audits, and assistance with laboratory electronic records management and reporting systems in accordance to NATA accreditation.
- support internal and external researchers through the provision of anatomical and clinical pathology diagnostic services.

The University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden (UVTHC) provides a range of large and small animal veterinary services to the community and referring veterinarians. As a teaching school, it also provides didactic and clinical instruction to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students during the pre-clinical and clinical final year as well as offering a number of postgraduate training programs. The UVTHC has a strong focus on promotion of teamwork and good working relations to facilitate excellence in clinical services, undergraduate teaching as well as the overall teaching and learning environment for staff.

About you

- a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science or DVM degree that permits registration within the Veterinary Practitioners Board of NSW
- membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Veterinary Pathobiology or equivalent experience
- proven experience in diagnostic pathology (postmortem examinations, biopsies, and cytology) is necessary
- an ability to work well with others in a collegial atmosphere
- excellent verbal and written communication skills; prior teaching experience is desirable
- publications in peer-reviewed journals relevant to veterinary pathology are desirable.
