Key Responsibilities:
In this role you will be the Lead Vet Nurse responsible for the care and management of our patients and their humans, under the direction of our Lead Duty Vet.
- Assist our veterinarian during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures, providing support and ensuring the smooth flow of operations.
- Running nurse consultations, including administering medication and treatments with careful attention to detail and patient comfort.
- Performing diagnostic tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and imaging procedures, and assisting in the interpretation of results.
- Monitoring anaesthesia during surgical procedures, maintaining patient vital signs, and assisting with post-operative care and recovery.
- Providing compassionate care and handling to animal patients, including grooming, feeding, and exercise as needed.
- Educating pet owners on proper animal care, including medication administration, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, with a focus on attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Assisting with clinic cleanliness and organisation, including sterilisation of equipment and inventory management.
Qualifications & Capabilities:
- Certification or licensure as a veterinary nurse or veterinary technician required but not essential, experience will be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a veterinary nurse in a clinical setting, with a preference for experience in a small team environment.
- Surgical nursing experience required, with ability to work as sole surgery nurse.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members and interact effectively with clients.
- Compassionate demeanour and genuine empathy for animals and their owners, with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility and adaptability to meet changing needs.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to ensure continuity of patient care.
