At WSP, we are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior to Principal Ecologist (Zoology or Botany) to join our dynamic Ecology team. Collaborate with our Technical Executive of Ecology and our national team of 60 ecologists, and play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge solutions for major projects locally and globally.

Driving Sustainable Biodiversity and Natural Resource Management

Your Responsibilities 

  • Execute rehabilitation, monitoring, biodiversity surveys, impact and offset assessments, and ecological management plans.
  • Conduct environmental analyses, mapping, research, and field surveys.
  • Craft technical environmental reports, proposals, and tenders.
  • Plan and manage projects of varying complexity and scale.
  • Nurture existing client relationships.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to their professional development.

 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Background in Environmental or Natural Science disciplines such as ecology, zoology, botany, or biology.
  • Prior consulting or government experience in biodiversity impact assessment and offsetting.
  • BAM Accreditation would be highly regarded, or a willingness to obtain it.
  • Experience in GIS, field mapping, and the development and management of spatial datasets.
  • In-depth knowledge of New South Wales BAM and State/Commonwealth regulatory frameworks and policies.
  • A genuine passion for ecology, conservation, biodiversity, and natural resources management.
  • Botanist: Proficiency in fieldwork, including BAM, ecological monitoring, plant species and threatened ecological community identification, ecological data collection and analysis, etc. PCTs and vegetation identification training, along with practical botany skills.
  • Zoologist: Proficiency in fieldwork, including BAM, ecological monitoring, fauna species identification, ecological data collection and analysis, etc. and practical fauna survey skills.
