The Role:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a veterinarian to join DairyNZ’s Biosecurity team.
We’re seeking a knowledgeable and experienced veterinarian, with strong technical leadership experience and network connections to lead critical and complex projects. As part of the Sustainable Dairy business unit, your role will be to work with a team to support the definition and implementation of dairy industry responses to biosecurity issues at a national level, as well as supporting the adoption of good practice on-farm initiatives. You will contribute to, and significantly influence, national debates on biosecurity and lead assigned projects and/or programmes and by contributing to the adoption of on farm practice that results in improvement in an aspect of the whole farm system. This exciting role also includes supporting the leadership of DairyNZ’s DBCAT (DairyNZ, Beef+LambNZ Compensation Assistance team) team within the Mycoplasma bovis Programme.
About You:
As a qualified veterinarian and with 5 -10 years’ relevant experience, you will have sound knowledge and understanding of the dairy industry. You will be known as an exceptional leader and team player, with proven technical expertise and experience in inspiring and managing complex projects, including those involved in on-farm change.
You will be a strong communicator and team player, with passion and a proven track record in networking and relationship building/management of internal and external relationships, with an assortment of stakeholders.
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of biosecurity and related animal health issues, solutions, and legislation relevant to dairying in New Zealand; articulating your knowledge and awareness of the environmental footprint of dairy farms, including the key issues, causes, and how to manage them within the context of the farm system.
The preferred location for this role is either in our Wellington, Newstead (Hamilton) or Lincoln offices, however location is flexible for the right candidate.
