The second line Risk function at PetSure is responsible for developing and managing the risk frameworks to allow PetSure to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within a Board-approved risk appetite.
Risk Management ensures PetSure has appropriate strategies and frameworks in place to assess, manage and report on market, operational, compliance and insurance risks.
Reporting to PetSure’s Chief Risk Officer, the Senior Risk Manager will take a central role in supporting PetSure’s focus on the review and challenge of line 1 risks and ensuring that risk management remains a primary focus across the business.
The Senior Risk Manager will play a key role in supporting the Chief Risk Officer in accountability for the risk function across the organisation. This includes enhancing the Risk Management Framework to meet expected practice and ensure it is appropriate to PetSure’s business size, mix and complexity. In addition, this role will be responsible for operational delivery of key risk management initiatives, providing risk advice and assurance, and drafting governance documentation to ensure all risk is appropriately managed.
What you’ll do
As a key member of our Risk team you will:
- Support Management to meet their Risk Management responsibilities and obligations
- Provide an increased forcus on review and challenge of
- Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication of risk requirements and provision of advice to those required to implement policies at an operational level
- Utilise the collection of risk information from source systems, departments, and reporting to provide risk insights. Analyse the data and apply to various key risk areas to update the risk profile
- Evaluate operational policies and procedures to achieve the identified Risk Management objectives and update the documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory expectations
- Support the business to apply Risk Management techniques and approaches to inform risk identification, measurement, assessment and control design
- Support the business to identify, assess and treat risk on existing and new projects/activities undertaken by the organisation
- Be the ‘voice of risk’ in business change initiatives and projects, displaying courage and resilience
What you’ll need to bring to be successful:
- Formal qualifications in Finance, Risk Management, Audit, Actuarial or related discipline
- Understanding of strengths and weaknesses of various risk management models, including COSO, ISO 31000, APRA CPS 220
- Proven experience working in APRA regulated entities and prudential standards
- Strong understanding of risk management models in corporate environments, preferably in the general insurance industry
- Expert knowledge of local regulatory requirements applicable to risk management functions
- Ability to design and conduct a risk-based assurance plan
- Pet parent or pet advocate

- Proven experience at developing and maintaining relationships with colleagues and customers
