We are seeking a Senior Research Ethics Liaison Officer to join Office of Research Ethics and Integrity, Research Portfolio, Academic Division.

We are seeking a Senior Research Ethics Liaison Officer to join Office of Research Ethics and Integrity, Research Portfolio, Academic Division. The Senior Research Ethics Liaison Officer (SRELO) will assist the Research Ethics Coordinator (Human) and the Animal Welfare and Ethics Coordinator by providing ethics advice to researchers and students and will assist with human and animal research ethics applications and reviews. Challenges include understanding and being able to apply the many facets, regulations and guidelines of ethics to advice offered to stakeholders and for application reviews. Ethics applications and queries at QUT come from a broad cross section of disciplines, making the provision of tailored advice an interesting and challenging experience. The development of a strong rapport with researchers and reviewers is a rewarding experience, that fosters a collaborative approach to the development and submission of ethically robust applications. The SRELO will be part of a fast-paced and lively ethics team, who work with a collaborative approach. What you need to succeed

  1. Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to completion of a degree with at least four years subsequent relevant experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles relating to human research and use of animals for scientific purposes.
  3. Demonstrated ability to apply principles and adapt procedures to make evidence-based recommendations to resolve complex issues.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms, prepare complex written material, and negotiate, consult and cultivate productive working relationships with senior stakeholders and the broader research community.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective and cooperative member of a team in a dynamic and flexible work environment.
