About the Role:

Your opportunity to contribute to animal welfare policy development and legislative reform, addressing critical state-wide animal welfare matters is here.

In this role you will plan, coordinate and manage the delivery of policy projects relating of the state government's animal welfare election commitments and other animal welfare policies. You will research, analyse and present the evidence to inform policy development, and develop policy options and mechanisms to deliver on the state government's animal welfare election commitments. You will have a key role in coordinate and driving policy project requirements, including consultation activities and managing project schedules and risk registers.

Your knowledge of legal principles that underpin the administration of legislation, combined with extensive public policy development experience will be critical to your success in this role. You will appreciate the nuances of working with sensitive issues relating to animal welfare management and the government's role in setting policy direction.

Your organisation, coordination and project management skills will be your greatest strength, backed up with experience in developing policy and interpreting and administering legislation. You will have effective written and verbal communication skills, and show strong interpersonal and relationship management capabilities to support consultation activities. You will work collaboratively with team members and other stakeholders. Your knowledge and understanding of animal welfare legislation and the ability to learn subject matter knowledge will position you for success in this role.

A tertiary qualification in public policy or animal sciences is considered desirable.

Contract:  Long-term contract up to 30 June 2024

Special Conditions:

  • May be required to participate in fire management or associated duties.
  • Some intra/interstate travel involving overnight absences and out of hours work may be required.
  • A current National Police Certificate is essential.

 

Remuneration:  ASO6 - $95,588 min - $101,109 max p.a.
