The Senior Manager, Foster Care is a member of the Animal Operations team and is responsible for the strategic direction and delivery of Foster Care Services across the state to reduce the number of animals in care.
This role is responsible for ensuring services provide the best standard of care for animals (all creatures great and small) through specialist coaching and support staff and volunteers.

About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Role model and deliver contemporary leadership and strive for personal growth
- Provide strategic advice, coaching and development to Foster Care Staff, engaging the support and expertise of the HR Business Unit as needed
- Develop a high performing culture of engaged employees and stakeholders
- Grow the capability of all staff, ensuring they have the skills to perform competently and professionally in partnership other Senior Managers
- Development, review and delivery of foster care standard operating procedures (SOPS) in line with animal welfare compliance
- Drive collaboration and effective integration with internal and external partner functions
- Growth of the foster care network with a key focus on retention strategies
- Execute a high level Learning and Development Program of Foster Care Staff and Volunteers
- Implementation of the RSPCA NSW Future Services Model (FSM)
- Drive new initiatives to deliver Community Foster Care Programs (EG: Corrections NSW)
- Work in collaboration with the Senior Manager, Intake and Capacity to drive an increase of Foster Care support during peak seasons or animal influxes
- Lead the Protective Custody Hold (PCH) Foster Care Program, including working in collaboration with the Inspectorate Department
- Be a strong, effective advocate for improved animal welfare regulation and policy in partnership with the Animal Welfare and Compliance team
- Partner and proactively support fundraising and communications initiatives
- Produce key Animal Operation’s metrics for senior leaders of the business
- Proactively act to identify and mitigate risks to the business and clients
- Identify opportunities to improve safety and drive implementation of safety initiatives
- Financial management of budgets and cost to serve
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Welfare Sector, Volunteer Management, Communication or similar
- Certificate II – Animal studies or equivalent (desired)
- Minimum Five (5) years People Management Experience
- Volunteer Management and Recruitment Experience
- Strong knowledge and demonstrated capability in OHS
- Proven success in running large scale services across the state
- Demonstrated experience partnering with key stakeholders to drive outcomes
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Must be a positive mentor, with ability to coach for success and drive positive culture and initiatives throughout team
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a calm manner
- Able to adapt to a constantly changing environment
- Ability to influence decisions across all levels of the business
- Can work well in a fast-paced team
- Enjoys working with data to produce information for key stakeholders to drive change and optimisation
- Demonstrated ability to maintain trust and confidentiality
