Riverina Milk, part of the ICM Agribusiness Group is a Freestall dairy situated between Corowa and Mulwala on the Murray River, milking over 2000 cows 3 times daily. Senior Dairy Technician
ICM Agribusiness Pty Ltd ABN 94 682 262 583 is in search of a Senior Dairy Technician to join the team on a full-time basis.
The successful candidate will be required to assist in managing and coordinating routines and ensuring that best practice is followed. This is a senior role designed to provide leadership, mentoring and support to staff across the livestock teams.
Reporting directly to the Herd Manager, the Senior Dairy Technician will be primarily responsible for maintaining herd health across young stock, lactating & dry-cows and ensuring our reproduction program is on track. This role has a strong focus on the ability to manage people who love and care for animals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and record data on cows, heifers, and bulls;
- Observe all livestock for signs of illness or distress;
- Monitor maternity area and assist with difficult births;
- Monitor and assist with care of fresh cows and new-born calves;
- Recommend culling decisions;
- Communicate decisions with senior managers;
- Upkeep of facilities, grounds, and equipment;
- Ensuring adequate supply of feed (including pellets hay and silage);
- Observe cows, heifers, and bulls for health problems;
- Treat and care for sick animals and record treatments in cow health records;
- Assist with pregnancy checks or other veterinary visits;
- Dry off cows as required;
- Maintain mastitis and dry cow treatment programs;
- Maintain herd vaccination program;
- Ensure animal welfare;
- Observe cows and heifers for heat and isolate for breeding program;
- Artificially inseminate cows and heifers and record data;
- Monitor health and growth of young stock;
- Identify, move, group, and treat heifers and bulls;
- Carry out existing vaccination program and ensure vaccines are administered appropriately;
- Dehorn calves, remove extra teats, administer wormer, castrate, etc;
- Other duties as directed by the senior managers.
Key requirements:
- Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field;
- Minimum 2 years relevant & related work experience in a similar work environment;
- Demonstrable ability to lead by example and manage multiple teams when required;
- High level of interpersonal, communication and team building skills;
- Proven experience in a similar operation/team leader management role;
- Experience with AI and relevant qualifications;
- Demonstrable ability to accurately collect, manage and interpret data;
- The passion and commitment to achieve exceptional results in a 24-hour 7 day per week operation;
- Ability to work in a safe, efficient manner, and where appropriate set up SOPs (standard operating procedures) to ensure all staff are complying with appropriate Australian WHS legislation).

Remuneration commensurate with experience will range from a base salary of $80,000 – $95,000 plus SG.
