Description
Our vision is for a thriving Southland - environmentally, socially, economically, and culturally.
Do you like working with people and helping them find solutions?
We have a great opportunity for you to help us make a difference throughout the Southland Region by supporting landowners and community groups to implement pest control solutions.
Our dynamic and energetic biosecurity and biodiversity team plays a key role in delivering Environment Southland's vision for a thriving Southland. Our animal pest control programmes reach over 2,500 people a year throughout our wonderful region; we need your help to maintain these programmes into the future.
You will have:
- a practical knowledge of commonly used pest animal control methods and the ability both to apply them and to promote them to other users;
- the ability to communicate effectively with both individual land-owners and community based groups.
Knowledge of native flora and fauna and ecological restoration in terrestrial ecosystems would be an advantage, as would a qualification in an appropriate discipline.
In return, Environment Southland can offer you a dynamic and friendly working environment, access to a wide range of technology, training and support, and the chance to make a real difference to Southland's natural environment.
Beaches, ski fields, 4 out of 10 of NZ Great Walks, national parks, lakes and fiords are all a short journey from Invercargill. Combined with reasonable house prices, short commutes and a relaxed pace of life, it all makes Southland a great place to live and work.
