About the role

This role sits in the Sustainability and Environment team as part of the City Planning and Infrastructure division which plans, designs, builds and maintains the City for our growing community.

You will maximise the retention and gain of native vegetation and enhancement of biodiversity in the City of Casey, including through planning processes.

This role will expand community and Council support for biodiversity conservation, protection and enhancement of environmental values

Responsibilities of this role include

  • Support the strategic and statutory planning process by reviewing technical reports and providing specialist advice on environmental impacts.
  • Develop innovative environmental education programs, resources and events that support biodiversity awareness within the City of Casey.
  • Encourage biodiversity improvement and retention on private land through coordination of grants, education programs and landholder advice.
  • Develop and maintain management plans for Council’s nature reserves and revegetation areas.
  • Provide technical advice and support to Council’s Bushland Crew, statutory and strategic planners and other departments as required regarding biodiversity issues.

 

 About you

  • Completion of secondary education plus:
  • tertiary qualification in environmental science or related field with some related work experience; or
  • lesser qualifications with substantial relevant experience; or
  • Substantial relevant experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
  • Driver's Licence which is valid to drive within Victoria
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including: National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check, Functional Assessment (physio/medical)
  • Covid-19 Vaccination in line with State Government directives.
