About the role 

The Senior Assessment and Rehabilitation Trainer conducts behaviour assessments on animals and assists with development and implementation of environmental enrichment and behaviour modification programs for animals. This role will also be responsible for developing and guiding staff and volunteers as well as ensuring a high standard of animal wellbeing is maintained.

  • Develop medications plans in partnership with the vet as well as medication weaning plans
  • Oversee the delivery of the medication/ weaning plans by the team and maintaining the medication stocks
  • Oversee that relevant databases & animal behaviour records
  • Provide advice to foster carers, volunteers and adopters
  • Write management plans and rehabilitation plans, provide input on problem behaviours, environmental management, behaviour modification and escalate for vet review when necessary

The Senior Assessment and Rehabilitation Trainer is required to work a 7-day rotating roster, including alternate weekends and occasional public holidays.

 

About you: 

  • Qualifications in canine behaviour, training or similar
  • Certificate II in Animal Studies or Animal Handling
  • Current Class C driver’s licence
  • Minimum two years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Experiencing supervising a team
  • Advanced animal handling skills to capture, restrain, and medicate
  • Advanced experience in animal behaviour and modification
  • Extensive knowledge of dog behaviour, socialisation and positive reinforcement training techniques
  • Ability to lift 10kg
