About QIMR Berghofer:

Scientific Services provides a diverse array of support services to researchers across QIMR Berghofer; including flow cytometry, microscopy, histology, GMP production, animal facilities, veterinary services, analytical facilities, sample processing services, building services, scientific equipment management, cryogenics and stores
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Team Leader and is responsible for: ensuring animals are maintained in a healthy condition by performing all tasks including changing and replenishing food, water and bedding; ensuring all work complies with legislations and Institute policies and procedures; providing advice and support to Animal Technicians in the work area; performing housekeeping tasks; ensuring records are accurately maintained and reported; establishing and maintaining colonies; providing advice and support to researchers; and facilitate and carry out technical procedures.
This position is required to participate in public holiday and weekend roster duties.
About you:
To be successful in the position, you should have a Diploma in Animal Technology or equivalent and at least 4 years experience.
You can:
- demonstrate an advanced knowledge of animal husbandry and technical procedures;
- experience with colony management and health monitoring; good communication skills; and enjoy working as part of a close team.
- accuracy with record keeping, good time management, and the ability to solve problems is also essential to this position.
- experience working with contract research and the associate compliance record keeping for GLP or infectious disease models would be an advantage.
Remuneration: Salary range is $61,897 to $73,753 per annum. This is a full-time, permanent appointment.
