About the Animal Facility team:
The Animal Facility team provides a high standard of technical support, animal care and welfare across PC2 and Quarantine facilities.
Role Purpose / Responsibilities:
This role reports to the Experimental Team Leader and is responsible for: ensuring animals are maintained in a healthy condition; ensuring all work complies with legislations and Institute policies and procedures; providing mentoring to Animal Technicians in the work area; performing housekeeping tasks; ensuring records are accurately maintained and reported; establishing and maintaining experimental colonies; providing advice and support to researchers including technical training; facilitate and carry out technical procedures; and coordinate the dispatch and importation of animals to other facilities.
This role is required to participate in public holiday and weekend roster duties.
About you:
To be successful in the role, you should have a Diploma in Animal Technology or equivalent and at least 4 years experience.
You can:
- demonstrate an advanced knowledge of animal husbandry and technical procedures; experience with colony management and health monitoring;
- good communication skills and enjoy working as part of a close team;
- Accuracy with record keeping, good time management, and the ability to solve problems is also essential to this role;
- Experience working with contract research and the associate compliance record keeping for GLP or infectious;
- disease models would be an advantage.
Remuneration: Salary range is $63,445 to $75,597 per annum. This is a full-time, permanent appointment.
