Murray Veterinary services is seeking a veterinary nurse/personal assistant to work alongside our our Senior Equine Reproduction Veterinarian for a 6-month period, starting in mid August 2024

 

About Us

We are a 9-vet equine only veterinary hospital located 15 minutes south of Pinjarra and 30 minutes from Mandurah in WA. We have a purpose-built hospital with a fully equipped equine surgical suite and all the required equipment and facilities to provide first class equine veterinary care. We work with the full range of horses from racing thoroughbreds to pleasure horses and provide every level of service from breeding work to surgery, dentistry, lameness and medical care. We have an amazing team of 20 support staff who ensure our hospital runs smoothly and effectively.

 

About the position

The position is for a 6 months period August to January, over our busy breeding season. We are looking for a veterinary nurse (or similarly experienced person) to travel on the road as a personal assistant to our vet providing veterinary services to stud farms throughout our region. You would be required to draw up medication, assist with breeding procedures, record treatments, manage daily schedules, assist with surgical procedures, restock veterinary vehicles, handling and assisting with foal treatments, handling and assisting with horse treatments and procedures, assist with AI, ET and semen freezing. It is a three day a week casual position with a start time varying between 6.30 and and 8.00 am and finishing between 4.30 and 6.00 pm this will change on a day to day basis depending on the day’s requirements.

 

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic team member with a passion for all things equine. The preferable candidate will have veterinary nursing qualifications but a person with relevant horse industry experience and no veterinary nurse qualifications would be considered. We need someone who works well with a team, pays attention to detail and can think clearly in high pressure situations while still maintaining a good sense of humour. The successful candidate will need to be flexible with their work time starts and finishes and be prepared for the roster to change on a day to day basis. No weekend work is required for this position.
