Australian Specialised Animal Pathology (ASAP) Laboratory is a leading provider of veterinary pathology laboratory services to Veterinary Clinics throughout Victoria
About the role:
Ensure efficient and prompt sorting, processing, and testing of specimens. Attend to the care, storage, processing, and disposal of pathology specimen. Maintain a high level of hygiene and anti-contamination. Responsible for interpreting and validating results associated with this testing. Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures as required for compliance with regulatory requirements. Troubleshoot quality control problems demonstrating understanding and proficiency in the principles of quality assurance practices. Appropriate response to abnormal, urgent, or time-sensitive requests. Ability to provide guidance and advice on clinical and scientific issues to other scientists, pathologists, patients and referring doctors.
About you:
- Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent and a relevant experience working in a Histology Laboratory (Veterinary)
- Histology experience
- Highly developed specimen cut up (microtomy), embedding and dissectioning skills
- Immunohistochemistry experience
- Special Stains
- Frozen Sections
- Sorting
- General Laboratory Duties
- Operates instrumentation for tissue dehydration, section clearing, impregnation with paraffin, cutting tissue sections, and staining of slides
- Your flexibility to cover other shifts is required
