The Job
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person to join the NAQS science team. The successful applicant will work closely with the NAQS Animal/Plant Director, the NAQS science team, and the broader NAQS program to deliver policy related outcomes that focus on strategically developing ranger capability in order to enhance biosecurity outcomes in northern Australia. This includes providing scientific advice and expertise into the development of reports, preliminary data analyses, summaries and other communications to a variety of stakeholders located both internal and external to the department. The position will also deliver other (as directed) technical policy outcomes as required.
What we are looking for
Knowledge and experience
• Essential coordination of scientific input into the ranger fee for service activities and emerging biosecurity initiatives.
• Coordination of the design and delivery of ad-hoc response/surveillance activities for the ranger program.
• Co-ordinating production of technical ranger training material including manual updates, help guides, remote delivery packages and ranger app improvements.
• Coordination of science surveillance communication resources for delivery of key messages to rangers and communities on imminent and current biosecurity threats.
• Assistance and co-ordination of scientists input into the delivery of ranger training.
• Technical input to improve the quality (and useability) of ranger collected data.
• Provision of ranger program technical reports, data analyses and summaries for stakeholders within and external to the department.

Mandatory qualifications
A tertiary qualification in the area of environmental, agriculture or biological science.
