  • Fixed-term, 2 years
  • VPS 4 - $91,418 - $103,725 + super
  • Work one day from Carlton, two from Macleod's Centre for Applied Sciences, plus work from home.

About the Role:

The Science Communications Advisor position is a newly-created, exciting service-offering, lending the opportunity to amalgamate your passion for communications with technical science knowledge. This position will play an integral part in facilitating, enhancing, and improving delivery of internal and external technical, scientific communications to best-deliver messaging.

 

Duties:

  • Assist with the review and editing of technical content, optimising for reach and different audiences - including the community, ministerial publications, and EPA stakeholders.
  • Provide support to internal staff, to enable upskilling of their technical communications content.
  • Run training sessions, create guidance assets, and support a culture of perpetual growth.
  • Engage with key stakeholders organisationally to assist with the delivery of technical communications, in line with EPA's strategic priorities and messaging.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Graduate qualifications and/or relevant experience in journalism, writing, science communication, applied/environmental science or similar; or equivalent career experience.
  • Demonstrated technical communications writing experience and acumen.
  • Similar experience within a science-based organisation; ideally in a similar role.
  • Strong sense of initiative - ability to facilitate and lead learning and development.
  • Great internal and external stakeholder engagement skills.
