About the role:

DIT AgTech is an innovative company with an exciting opportunity for a ruminant nutritionist/research officer to join the team. The role will be responsible for providing nutritional support to both customers and the company to ensure that DIT’s water supplementation technology delivers the production goals of livestock enterprises. It will also involve the research and development of products for DIT, in particular working in collaboration with the CQU Precision Livestock team on research into methane reduction in ruminant animals and assisting the development of methodologies for carbon trading.

You will be part of a small team where teamwork and collaboration is the key to success. The mentality of "rolling up your sleeves" and being accountable for the region is expected and provides you with an opportunity to grow and expand your knowledge.

The role will be based in Rockhampton and initially involve training across all aspects of the business to gain a thorough understanding of our water medication technology and its opportunity to increase production gains for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

· Work within the CQU Precision Livestock Team at Rockhampton to assist with the MLA/CQU/DIT collaborative research project on feeding methane reducing supplements to livestock for emission reduction in the beef industry.

· Assist the DIT Research Lead to seek and gain approved methodologies within both the compulsory and voluntary carbon markets to allow farmers to capture a carbon credit with the supplementing of methane reducing additives through the water that DIT is developing within its technology production platform.

· Manage any other R&D projects for the company to ensure project milestones and reporting deadlines are met according to funding agreements in place.

· Provide ruminant nutrition support to both customers and the company to ensure that DIT’s water supplementation technology delivers the production goals of livestock enterprises.

· Develop a deep knowledge of all DIT nutritional products and services to support the company and its customers.

· Developing a thorough working knowledge of the uDOSE, IoT devices and the uHUB dashboard to support DIT Customers where required.

· Assist with any grant application process inclusive of identifying opportunities, planning & drafting application and developing budgets /milestone schedules under the direction of the Research Lead.

· Contribute to the development, progression and manage a pipeline of research and development projects (including extension activities), based on the business objectives.

· Assist in managing the development of new products and projects based on business objectives and market development for the company.

· Travel across Australia, where required, to participate in, and present at industry events. Also to work directly with DIT customers to develop nutrition programs to meet production goals for their operations.

 

The Package:

· This is a full-time role based in Rockhampton QLD

· Fully maintained company car will be provided for travel involved in the role

 

Skills and Experience:

· Tertiary Qualification in Agricultural Science (Animal Nutrition) or related disciplines (essential)

· At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in Ruminant nutrition (essential)

· Research experience in animal production is desirable

· Extension/facilitation skills is desirable but not essential

· Ability to develop industry networks in government, commercial and universities

· A high level of accuracy and attention to detail

· Excellent personal presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively (essential)

· A competent understanding of basic computer skills

· Manual Drivers Licence (essential)

 

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
