Description
The Austin Vet Specialists is growing! Our imaging case load is ever-growing and exciting with a wide variety of cases.
Therefore, we are looking for a Resident in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging to join our team.
About The Austin:
The Austin Vet Specialists is an independent-owned veterinary specialist centre with a team of almost 60 people. Our custom-built hospital (1200m2) is designed around a synergistic approach to patient care, and has all the instruments necessary to enable our specialists to relish their chosen careers, and flourish. This includes two ultrasound rooms, two ultrasound machines, 64 slice CT scanner, radiography room with cloud-based PACS, dedicated radiology reading room (with soundproofing), flat-panel fluoroscopy, and much more including access to 3T MRI scanner and PET-CT scanner. In addition to our hospital duties, we also have a mobile ultrasound service, and expansion with our own high-field MRI is planned in the future.
The Residency:
The ECVDI Residency is a three-year fulltime clinical position with a start date as soon as possible.
The Resident will be part of the Diagnostic Imaging team, consisting of three board-certified radiologists (DipECVDI, FANZCVS and DipACVR), an Imaging Resident (ECVDI), alternate track Imaging Resident (FANZCVS) and a senior Imaging Intern. Additionally, they will be supported by board-certified specialists in surgery and internal medicine including interns and a team of amazing nurses.
The daily work will revolve around the participation in the small animal ultrasound and radiology service as well as providing collaborative care of the patients in hospital and accepting imaging requests from referring vets during our opening hours.
Needless to say, the Resident can expect full support and instruction in performing and interpreting diagnostic imaging examinations.
Additional activities include exposure (pun intended) to advanced cross-sectional imaging (CT and MRI), daily hospital rounds, in-house journal club, regular imaging rounds, monthly rounds at Adelaide Zoo, opportunities to be involved in cutting edge research through SAHMRI-PIRL, provision of radiology rounds to vets, teaching of Adelaide Vet School students and much more.
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and expertise:
- Veterinary degree that is recognised in South Australia
- Minimum of one year working experience in small animal veterinary practice
- Completion of a rotating and/or imaging internship
- Previous experience with ultrasound is useful but not essential
- Willingness to participate in rotating roster including weekend on-call shifts
Our values:
- We will invest in your continuing education but need you to bring the motivation. In return, we will provide you with a challenging and satisfying career.
- We will provide a happy workplace (including dealing with any negative workplace behaviour) to ensure you enjoy working with us. At The Austin, we take recruitment very seriously because we know it is important to get the right people.
- Being a specialist centre, expect ambitious standards and awesomeness but also expect a lot of happiness and fulfillment from your job.
- Oh...and bring your dog to work – we have a dedicated pooch lounge for our team!
