An exciting full-time opportunity is available to be part of a friendly, high performing team of researchers in the development of new animal health products globally. We are actively searching for a Research Veterinarian with experience in companion animals to manage and conduct R&D clinical studies.
The role
As a Research Veterinarian you will support the operational direction and plan, design, implement, manage and report clinical studies, ensuring optimal output from the site for the development of new animal health products and label extensions for existing products for the global and regional (ANZ) markets.
You will:
- Act as an Investigator and/or Study Director in GxP studies by developing protocols and reports in collaboration with global project teams.
- Be responsible for the conduct of complex studies for the evaluation of compounds and assist in the interpretation of these studies.
- Plan, perform, interpret and report results of field and laboratory studies in both livestock and companion animals.
- Design, review and make recommended changes to scientific protocols and procedures.
- Liaise with external parties in early research projects and implement and oversee disease models.
- Ensure timely availability of information for the AEC (Animal Ethics Committee) and co-operate with the Animal Welfare Officer, to ensure the highest standards of animal welfare are maintained.
- Manage studies, documentation and work according to, and in compliance with, external and internal guidelines (e.g. SOPs, VICH, FDA, OECD, GxP, HSE and Animal Welfare Code of Practice)
- Collaborate with other associates to facilitate knowledge exchange. Assist with training and coaching peers as required.
- Assist with the identification, communication and planning of resource requirements.
To be successful you must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in veterinary medicine (e.g. DVM)
- Broad scientific or technical knowledge in a specific area
- Adequate understanding of research and/or development processes
- Adequate knowledge of products, parasites (including diagnosis) and disease
- Must have hands-on skills (e.g. blood collection) with animals, especially cats and dogs
- Preferably knowledge of GCP, GLP and GRP
- Excellent scientific/technical writing skills
- Effective time management allowing completion of business-critical tasks
- Initiative in suggesting/developing process changes to improve efficiency
- Enthusiasm and energy for the role with a strong drive for achievement
- Effective execution strategies demonstrated across multiple projects
- Attention to detail, ability to thoroughly review data and documents/reports
- Strong accountability to deliver upon timelines for tasks and objectives
- Ability to build effective, trusting business connections quickly and work collaboratively with local and global colleagues across cultural, language and time zone barriers
- Ability to work effectively within a team or independently
- Ability to handle several projects simultaneously
- Good organizational and planning skills with a focus on delivering results
- Compliance with quality systems and standards.
- Strong problem solving and analytical abilities.
- Must be a team player
- Ability to work additional or flexible hours as required
- Fluency in English is essential
- Driver’s license
