  • Part-time (0.5 FTE), Fixed-term appointment for 12 months

 

The Opportunity

The Centre for Bioinnovation (The Centre) is a world-class research centre with expertise in human and animal health and disease, aquaculture biotechnology, conservation and biodiversity, applied microbiology, and biodiscovery. The Centre’s vision is to improve societal outcomes through innovative knowledge-based solutions using bio-inspired approaches.

You will work with the Chlamydia research team on the next stage of the vaccine development and directly support:

  • roll out the research version of the vaccine with several wildlife hospital trials as well as evaluate the vaccine in wild koala populations;
  • contribute to funding applications to support trials;
  • conduct laboratory research to support the koala trials, including strain genotyping and immunological assays; and
  • liaise with several industry and veterinary partners.

About you

You possess a positive and engaging demeanour, enabling excellence for research outcomes, colleagues and project partners. Your well-developed interpersonal skills and exceptional written and verbal communication allow you to successfully communicate research findings. You collaborate cohesively and share your expertise to contribute to the ongoing success of research outcomes.

 

You will possess:

  • a relevant doctoral qualification and experience as a researcher;
  • strong interest and proven skills in the discipline with the desire to conduct high quality science.
  • research experience and potential including: refereed publications and other acknowledged research outputs that are discipline specific;
  • expertise in securing internal and external funding (awarded over the last five years);
  • previous esteem measures experience, such as keynote addresses or invitations to present, prizes and awards, committee/board membership etc;
  • skilled in technology transfer activities;
  • experienced in outreach activities (including engagement with external partners); and
  • demonstrated experience supervising research students.
