Position overview

The Research Ethics Office has an exciting opportunity for an experienced research administrator to work closely with researchers, professional staff, ethics committees, external stakeholders and regulators to facilitate the ethical conduct of research.

Located within the Research Services Division (RSD), the Research Ethics team is part of the Research and Innovation Portfolio led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (DVC-RI). The Research Ethics team plays a central role in ensuring the University meets all legislative requirements and international best practice in the ethical conduct of research involving humans, animals and GMOs.

The successful candidate will have experience in scientific research or higher education research administration in a complex organisation.  They will have a demonstrated ability to work across different areas and provide complex advice based on overarching policies, procedures, legislation, regulations, and guidelines.  They will have the ability to learn various databases and systems for core business processes such as overseeing the day to day administration associated with the activities of the ANU Ethics Committees as well as audits of research environments. They will have a solution focused approach to business improvement initiatives and will enjoy a varied role within a dynamic team.
