Job Description
We are seeking a Research Assistant with experience in classical and molecular techniques applied to arthropods and biological (blood, tissue, fecal, etc.) samples. The candidate is expected to contribute significantly to our research team focusing on parasitological, pathological and diagnostic aspects of the camel nasal bot fly infection. Selected candidate will assist the principal investigator in the field and laboratory research activities, including sample collection, sample preparation in the laboratory, morphological and molecular identification of samples, data analysis etc.
Minimum Qualification
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), Bachelor of Animal Science (BVSc), or Bachelor degree from another relevant field. Successful candidate must have some work/training experience after completing the first degree (e.g., bachelor). A postgraduate degree (MSc degree) in the relevant field is a plus.
Preferred Qualification
Bachelor degree in a relevant lab-based specialization, and work experience in a laboratory setting. Applicants with a proven experience in entomology and molecular techniques, including PCR and real-time PCR, will be preferred.
Expected Skills/Rank/Experience
Essential skills include previous research experience with arthropod species and/or molecular techniques, attention to detail, data collection and accurate record-keeping, a flexible attitude to work, being proactive and willing to learn new skills.
