The Role
As the Registrar in Veterinary Anaesthesia, your primary purpose is to provide high level veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia services to clinical sections within The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University.
Your duties will involve:
- Provide high quality anaesthesia and analgesia services to clinical sections within The Animal Hospital At Murdoch University (TAHMU),
- Provide support and training to specialty trainees, students, visiting veterinarians and veterinary nurses in all aspects of anaesthesia and analgesia,
- Strict adherence to University and TAHMU policies, procedures, and protocols and with The Veterinary Surgeons’ Act of WA and other veterinary industry related Acts and Regulations,
- Provide advice to other TAHMU staff on anaesthesia and analgesia related matters,
- Enter account details and other relevant patient data on hospital networked computer system and maintain accurate hospital patient records,
- Ensure accurate and complete estimations and billing of all cases during shift and adhere to relevant hospital policy,
- Participate in the after-hours roster,
- Manage workflow efficiently and autonomously within the department and ensure all necessary duties are completed in a timely manner,
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with referring veterinarians, both within TAHMU and outside practices,
- Manage adverse incidents and complaints appropriately, resolve if possible and bring to the attention of the Lecturer in Veterinary Anaesthesia or Hospital Operations Manager,
- Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of specified University software packages and Microsoft Office applications,
What you’ll bring to this role
- Veterinary degree registrable by the Veterinary Surgeons’ Board of Western Australia,
- Specialist qualifications in veterinary anaesthesia (FANZCVS, DECVAA, or DACVAA) or successful completion of an approved anaesthesia residency training program OR with extensive clinical anaesthesia experience and/or ANZCVS Memberships (or equivalent) in veterinary anaesthesia,
- Ability to participate in the after-hours roster, including day, evening, weekend, public holiday and university holiday shifts,
- Highly effective communication, customer service and interpersonal skills,
- Excellent organisational, time and workload management skills,
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative, assume responsibility for tasks and projects and to resolve problems,
- Demonstrated ability to work cohesively in a team environment,
