Description
The Opportunity:
The role's focus area is based around natural resource management including fire, pest, infrastructure maintenance and visitor management. The role will involve a high degree of visitor management including public contact, facilities maintenance and compliance. This position will be required to hike long distances in order to deliver fire, pest, infrastructure and visitor management programs. You will need to be of reasonable fitness, enjoy walking, and have general trade skills. The successful applicant will encourage positive relationships within the community and stakeholders and the ability to live and work for extended periods in close proximity with colleagues is highly regarded but not mandatory.
You'll need:
- Resilience, pragmatism, tenacity, and confidence in a regional or remote setting.
- Courageous and ethical leadership, advanced communication skills.
- The ability to form trusted relationships with both First Nations partners and others.
- Organisational, project management and teamwork skills.
- Compliance and enforcement skills.
- A strong understanding of conservation and natural resource management and workplace health and safety (both physical and psychological).
- Administration and computer skills.
QPWS employees based at the Carnarvon Gorge section, Carnarvon National Park are provided with departmental housing.
