Description

About the business and the role

Western Australian Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (WAVES) is a large specialist and referral veterinary hospital caring for the pets of Western Australia. We provide specialist services in different fields including advanced medical imaging for our inpatients, as well as an outpatient service to other veterinary clinics in WA.

Our awesome and very much loved MIT has sadly had to move on from the position and we are looking for someone, hopefully equally as awesome, to provide imaging services to our furry patients.

Job tasks and responsibilities

We require a qualified medical imaging technologist with experience in both MRI and CT. You would be tasked to:

  • Help manage the day to day running of our veterinary imaging department
  • Provide support to our registered specialists in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging
  • Operate and care for our 1.5T MRI and 16 slice CT
  • Aid in patient positioning for different studies and help in developing study protocols to maximize our imaging quality.
  • Be involved in providing care and love to our furry patients.

For the right candidates we would consider a job share position.

Skills and experience

We require someone with prior experience in both MRI and CT. Experience with fluoroscopic studies would also be an advantage. Surprisingly, veterinary experience isn't essential! Just a love of working with animals and working in a large team environment with other professionals that are dedicated to their fields of expertise. Sometimes it may be necessary to have a strong constitution - some of our poor patients suffer serious trauma and need our help. What is probably different, is that most of our patients undergo CT and MRI under general anaethesia, so they don't tend to wiggle too much or get claustrophobic.
