Description
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Quarantine Specialist. This role will oversee the implementation of the Quarantine Management System (QMS) across Barrow Island to support base business and project scopes, Provide Quarantine guidance, clarification, and support to ensure all activities are consistent with the requirements of the QMS.
The QMS point of contact SME advice for site-based quarantine enquiries including support for vessel quarantine clearance as needed.
- Undertake verification and validation of quarantine safeguards across the relevant Barrow Island scopes of work including reporting of safeguard effectiveness. Assist with the process of identifying and developing solutions to drive improvement in quarantine operational performance. Support the accreditation and verification of competency assessments of Quarantine Inspectors
- Support the quarantine awareness and training strategy by promoting quarantine culture amongst Barrow Island workforces. This includes co-ordination and delivery of toolbox and training materials and participation
in induction and training sessions - Oversee the Contractors undertaking the Non-Indigenous Species surveillance and monitoring programs, including provision of technical and operational advice.
- Undertake quarantine preparedness and response exercises and provide onsite management and
coordination for quarantine response and eradication programs. - Lead site-based investigation of quarantine related incidents and procedural deviations.
Requirements
- Tertiary degree in environmental science or related discipline or demonstrated experience working in a quarantine and/or biosecurity role
- Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build respectful and trusted relationships with a variety of stakeholders including site leaders and the broader workforce including frontline personnel and business partners.
