Position summary
The primary responsibilities of the QC Microbiologist are to ensure testing and records are completed in full and to the required standard, and to the required schedule for support of Operations. Testing completed for this role includes but is not limited microbiological testing of raw materials, finished products, stability and environmental samples, calibration of laboratory instruments, and support of validation and qualification activities
Duties Performed
- Carry out testing of materials as directed by the QC Operations Team Lead and QC Lead.
- Perform testing of stability, finished goods, raw materials, and in-process samples inclusive of third-party products and validation samples in accordance with relevant procedures and the stability schedule.
- Microbiological testing of bioburden, endotoxin, TPC, TAMC, TYMC, and sterility testing.
- Environmental testing of cleanroom facilities (at rest and in-process) including contact plates, settle plates, active air monitoring, NVP monitoring and operator monitoring.
- Participate in media fill validation.
- Complete the necessary testing of materials received / prepared (e.g., growth promotion testing).
- Calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Contributing to the efficiency of the laboratory by ensuring adequate stocks of consumables is maintained.
- Contributing to the laboratory by ensuring instruments and equipment are maintained, cleaned, and kept in good working order.
- Contributing to laboratory housekeeping by assisting in the general cleaning of labware, work area and the laboratory in general.
- Maintaining up-to-date laboratory records for all testing, analytical work and investigations carried out.
- Promptly reporting any deviation in any test results to the QC Lead, perform investigation as required.
- Raise and progress QMS records to closure in accordance with procedure timeframes.
- Undertake work in accordance with Jurox QMS and the GMP requirements of relevant receiving market (e.g. APVMA, ACVM, TGA, FDA, EMA).
Education and experience
- Minimum TAFE qualification in Pharmaceutical, life science or other laboratory related discipline
- Bachelor of Science, with major in microbiology or relevant life sciences
- Previous experience in a QC Microbiology laboratory or microbiological laboratory research role, preferably in the Pharmaceutical or manufacturing industry.
- Familiar with laboratory techniques.
- Experience in microbiological testing of environmental, water, raw material, finished product and stability samples preferred.
- Experience of working in a regulated environment (e.g. GLP, GMP, ISO) would be beneficial.
