Opportunity

The Professor of Animal Genetics will take a leading role in the establishment of a research program in their discipline which enhances the interdisciplinary research within the School and complement the established research strengths in animal science, animal biotechnology, sustainable animal production, agricultural systems and economics, food science and nutrition.  The position will play an important role in the academic leadership of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses and subject streams, particularly within the Bachelor of Agriculture and Master of Agriculture Science degrees.

The successful incumbent will represent the School at Faculty and University levels as well as externally representing the University of Melbourne and as such they will demonstrate personal leadership as well as positively support senior leadership positions across the University, Faculty, and School.

 

About You

You will be an outstanding, internationally recognised global animal genetics leader, as demonstrated through contributions in your field and commitment to the highest standards of scientific and ethical integrity.

You will possess;

  • A PhD or equivalent awarded in a discipline relevant to animal genetics.
  • Attained international recognition as an eminent authority in the discipline of animal genetics, genomics, quantitative genetics and livestock breeding evidenced by a sustained and distinguished record of publications in peer reviewed journals, articles, conference proceedings and other outputs.
  • Demonstrated record of attracting and sustaining significant funding and the ability to make independent contribution through professional practice and expertise by leading, coordinating, managing activities of staff and research teams.
  • Evidence of the drive, energy and vision to build and lead a world-class research program in the discipline.
