Production Technician:
Broad Function
Be an active member of the Production Team whilst assisting the Production Supervisor / Sr Production Technician(s) to conduct the immunisation and bleeding programs and associated activities for the production of antibodies in the BTG sheep flock, including the maintenance of appropriate records and documentation.
Assist in the maintenance of the Production Facility buildings and operation to the standard approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) and the USA Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and in accordance with the principles of the Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
Principle Responsibilities
Support the production of low bio-burden serum from the blood harvested in the Production Facility by:
- Strictly following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that are in use within the production unit
- Contributing to the development of safe and efficient work practices to optimise productivity
- Conducting all operations and procedures with the utmost attention to detail, hygiene and safety
- Ensure all documentation of bleeding, immunisation, test bleeding, health management and sheep identification are completed accurately on a daily basis
- Ensure all training records are completed accurately and in a timely manner
- Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by the Sr Production Technicians
- Assisting the Sr Production Technician(s) with the training of employees involved in production activities as required
- Ensuring routine animal husbandry practices are carried out on an industry “best practice” basis and in accordance with the “Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals – The Sheep”.
- Ensuring that any suspected health problems are reported immediately to the Production Supervisor, a Sr Production Technician(s), or Veterinarian.
- Assist the Veterinarians with all Animal health issues.
- Weekend work is required on a rostered basis as part of this position.
- Must comply with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety legislation, codes of practice, standards, policies, operating procedures and work instructions, and be accountable for all EHS actions
- Ensure that all interactions and engagements are carried out in a professional, efficient, courteous manner and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with BTG values.

Education and Experience
- A current South Australian Driver’s Licence is required
- Ability to work in a close team environment
- Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills essential.
- Neat, legible handwriting essential.
- A tertiary qualification in Animal Technology/ Agriculture or similar would be desirable
- Front end loader / Telehandler licenses would be advantageous
- Proficient IT skills mainly in Microsoft Office suite
