How will you make an impact?
As a product specialist you will make your mark as the primary lead generator. The product specialist is the a key contact for our industrial microbiology business, providing competitor and market knowledge, execution of commercial strategies and manages sales pipelines to meet and exceed operating plans.

The Product Specialist ensures that the needs of our customers are met and supported, and that Thermo Fisher Scientific is a supplier of choice for the defined product range.

This position covers multiple territories and regional customers; therefore regular travel is required.

What will you do?

Day to day tasks include, but are not limited to:

Sales Execution

  • Achieving sales margins and targets
  • Providing an accurate sales forecast monthly for the Industrial Microbiology business areas
  • Designing and executing effective business territory plans
  • Using data analysis tools in order to enhance sales and margin metrics for key customer accounts

 

Delivering Product specialist expertise

  • Gaining a strong understanding of the customer's requirements and application needs on a technical level and then proposing the most suitable solution
  • Assisting the Product Management team to ensure inventory and product forecasting targets are met and customer/marketing expectations are reached.
  • Leading product demonstrations, seminars and actively participating in customer engagement activities to support the growth strategy

 

Management of the existing pipeline and new opportunities

  • Maintain an accurate opportunity funnel for all assigned product, including closure dates and completed sales process (stakeholders engaged, next steps, competition etc)

 

How will you get here?

Education

  • Tertiary qualifications in Science or related discipline are essential
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Microbiology or Biochemistry laboratory or commercial Microbiology &/or clinical diagnostics experience in pathology, veterinary and pharmaceutical setting.

 

Experience

  • Previous experience selling Microbiology &/or clinical diagnostics reagents and consumables is highly regarded
  • Technical understanding of markets, particularly within hospitals, pathology, veterinary and pharmaceuticals laboratories
  • Strong understanding of the Sales process with demonstrated ability to achieve results
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with a CRM system
  • Experience in using SalesForce.com and Microsoft tools.

  • An initiative taker who has an enthusiastic, energetic and positive attitude
