Livestock Biosecurity - Biosecurity & Animal Welfare
Ongoing vacancy available in Darwin
An exciting opportunity exists to make a significant contribution to the Northern Territory Livestock Biosecurity Program and work closely with government and industry stakeholders to support market access opportunities for the NT livestock Industries.
The responsibility
The position plans and manages livestock biosecurity projects to maintain and enhance market access of livestock and livestock products to domestic and export markets.
The person will work closely with industry, provide high-level policy advice to stakeholders and provide support to the Chief Veterinary Officer for an emergency livestock disease response.
The person
The person will be a suitably qualified veterinarian and have proven ability to manage biosecurity programs, provide strategic policy advice and undertake legislative functions preferably with extensive livestock industry knowledge. The person will undertake the duties of the Principal Veterinary Officer and represent the NT at national livestock biosecurity forums.
