About This Opportunity
The Principal Research Assistant works as a member of the UQ Teaching Innovation Grant project team on the following project- Visualising digital footprints to enhance learner engagement in work-integrated learning (WIL). The role will provide high-level educational mixed-methods research expertise for the project working closely with the multidisciplinary project team and student partners.
Key responsibilities will include:

Undertaking a comprehensive literature review in the area of WIL specifically workplace-based learning and assessment in the medical and veterinary science contexts to support research outcomes

Contributing to and/or draft elements of ethics applications and/or other project documentation to maintain accurate records of project activities including project stages and outcomes

Leading focus group sessions and other data collection methods (surveys) with student representatives from medicine and veterinary science programs .

Adopting an inquiry-based approach to explore digital data sets that capture WIL activities and working with the project team to analyse patterns of engagement by student cohorts in workplace-based learning and assessment.

Contributing to co-design sessions with the student partners and project team to inform the development of digital dashboards for stakeholders (clinical supervisors, academic staff and students) that capture WIL activities and student progress.

Providing specialist expertise in analytic methods for both quantitative and qualitative data sets to maximise research outcomes.

Developing project evaluation methods and analysing both quantitative and qualitative data sets to inform ongoing project planning. This includes collation of feedback from the international reference group associated with the project.

Providing educational design expertise for the project team to develop educational strategies to enhance medical and veterinary student’s engagement in review of their WIL activities and development of their clinical competencies.

Contributing to and coordinating research outputs, joint preparation and authorship of presentations and documentation for dissemination activities associated with the project (newsletters, conference abstracts, manuscripts for publication)

Contributing to the effective and efficient management of the project

Supporting the project team with drafting intervention strategies designed to enhance learning engagement in WIL.

About You
-
Completion of post graduate qualifications in a relevant discipline area and demonstrated alignment of research interests in health sciences education, medical education or veterinary science education, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training

Demonstrated research-relevant knowledge and skills in one or more of the following fields: educational design research, student learning, WIL, higher education pedagogy, feedback and assessment literacy, educational interventions for at-risk students.

Advanced knowledge of work-integrated learning in the health/medical or veterinary science contexts or can demonstrate how your knowledge is directly transferable to these contexts.

Significant experience of working in the higher education or health sciences/medical or veterinary science sector.

Advanced capabilities in data management and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data sets.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to produce clear, succinct research documentation and the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of team members in higher education and/or WIL settings

What We Can Offer
This is a part-time (40%) fixed-term position through to 29 February 2024 at HEW 7.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $90,538.40 - $98,719.38 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $105,929.93 - $115,501.67 per annum.
