Description
What you will do
- Lead and implement animal production and grazing systems development and extension projects that enhance the profitability, productivity, competitiveness and environmental sustainability of Queensland's beef industry.
- Ensure that project deliverables are of a high scientific standard, integrated with business principles and are delivered to influence adoption by industry, and that project management and governance processes are exemplary of a leading RD&E organisation.
- Provide professional leadership in developing high performing teams through mentoring staff, creating measurable and attainable goals, and building strong morale.
- Identify research trends and technologies to advance collaborative partnerships with government, industry, RDCs, external bodies, universities and other stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain industry relationships and networks to secure project partnerships-funding and maximize the impact of research, development and extension activities across north Queensland.
- Provide guidance to senior management on issues relating to the development of the beef industry, and provide quality advice on management, policy, program and industry matters.
- Advance projects in accordance with Departmental policy and relevant strategic government and industry policy.
You must also have
- A Degree in Animal, Veterinary, Agricultural, or Environmental Science from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent academic qualifications. Post-graduate qualification in a science or management field is desirable.
- Experience in the agricultural sector and working with beef producers will be highly regarded.
- Remote travel and regular overnight stays away from home is a job requirement.
- You must have a valid “C” class driver's licence.
Mandatory requirement
