Responsibilities:
The
New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) is an AAALAC International accredited
facility that houses approximately 12,000 nonhuman primates, including
Great Apes, Old World, and New World species. Our mission is to provide
resources and support for the conduct of basic and applied research
aimed at solving human health and societal problems. NIRC is a $75
million biomedical research center that enables investigators from
various institutions to conduct research using non-human primates.
Position Summary: This NIH grant-funded position supports Dr. Francois Villinger's
research at NIRC. The primary responsibility of the Postdoctoral
Research Fellow is to conduct non-human primate immune analysis and
cellular and humoral immune assays. Additional duties include writing
manuscripts and presenting research results.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct non-human primate immune analysis.
- Perform cellular and humoral immune assays.
- Analyze and interpret data from immune assays.
- Write scientific manuscripts based on research findings.
- Present research results at scientific meetings and conferences.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and institutional regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all experiments and research activities.
- Collaborate with other researchers and staff within the NIRC and the broader scientific community.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of research protocols and procedures.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in biology or immunology, MD or DVM
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of viral assays and biostatistics are highly desirable.
- The candidate is expected to be able to work independently and within a team.
