College of Science and Engineering, School of Biological Sciences, Institute for Ecology and Evolution

Full time, 35 hours per week

Fixed term from February 2024 – February 2026

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated post-doctoral research associate to join the NERC funded project ‘ECOFLU: Understanding the ecology of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in wild bird populations. The post is full time and fixed term for 24 months.

 

The Opportunity:

The applicant will join our multi-institute and multi-partner team of interdisciplinary researchers who will integrate information from across disciplines to examine the impact of avian influenza and other related pathogens of interest in wild seabird populations.

 

Your skills and attributes for success: 

  • PhD in in biology, ecology or other relevant field
  • Evidence of the ability to conduct high-quality research, produce publications, excellence in written and oral communication, planning and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team under challenging field conditions during island based field work
  • Experience or evidence of ability to quickly learn molecular and immunological lab based skills
  • Excellent quantitative and statistical modelling skills.
