Would you like to be part of a team responsible for ensuring that sample submissions are unpacked and booked into our system accurately and quickly, ensuring that tests are run in our laboratories and results transmitted to veterinary practices promptly?
Due to continued business growth, we are looking for reliable and self-motivated individuals to join our busy, hard-working Sample Reception team, supporting our service provision to veterinary practices nationwide and abroad.
This position will be responsible for unpacking, booking in, and processing all incoming sample submissions received via courier and Royal Mail, then preparing all materials for onward movement to the various laboratory departments for analysis.
Sample Reception duties:
- Unpack and process all incoming submissions, checking all samples received against the accompanying submission form and recording accurate information on the paperwork
- Book in animal details, sample types, and test requests onto our in-house computer system
- Label, prepare, and sort all samples received following all relevant protocols
- Cross reference all packages received against relevant courier documentation
Candidate profile:
- The successful candidate will have to be adaptable, process-driven, able to work on own initiative, and eager to learn new skills as and when required.
- Precise and fast data entry skills are essential, along with the ability to notice small but important details
- Methodical, efficient, and organised approach to all tasks
- Comfortable working to standard operating procedures and able to remain focused and calm under pressure
Salary and working hours:
- Starting salary of £8.98 per hour, rising to £9.44 (following completion of probationary period) and beyond, with further incremental training increases available through learning progression.
- 30 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday 05:00-11:00 (start and end times subject to change due to business requirements)
