Since incorporation in 1989, Bioproperties has successfully collaborated with Australian universities and built a portfolio of over 20 products, a world class research and development team based in Victoria, and a product pipeline to support future company growth. Eimeria Pty Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bioproperties and is involved in the manufacture of and research and development into Eimerian parasites of chickens. Bioproperties also operates an administration and distribution centre in Ringwood, VIC and a manufacturing facility at Glenorie in Sydney's Northwest.

 

The Opportunity

This position is for our R&D Division based within the RMIT University campus at Bundoora, Victoria. The Bioproperties R&D Team and Eimeria Development Laboratory require a postdoctoral scientist to assist in the development of molecular tests for Eimeria field diagnostics and next generation methodology for the manufacture and production of Eimeria vaccines.

 

The Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and meticulous team player with experience in molecular biology (qPCR testing, genome sequencing) and microbiome studies (host-microbiome interactions, metagenomics).

The following selection criteria are essential:

  • University qualification (PhD) or extensive experience in a related field of science.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as a postdoctoral scientist in a research laboratory with understanding of techniques including molecular biology, microorganism culture and bioinformatics.
  • Demonstrated capacity in maintaining laboratory records and drafting research presentations.
  • Experience in laboratory equipment use, maintenance and calibration.
  • Experience working with animals.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently to achieve a project goal.
  • Flexible working hours – occasional work after hours and weekends is required.

The following selection criteria are desirable:

  • Experience in working within a GMP, GCP, GLP or NATA quality system environment.
  • Experience with assay development and validation.
  • Willingness to participate in a culture of continuous improvement and to recognise company values.
  • Experience in animal welfare, preferably with poultry experience.
