About the Role:
To realise our vision, Dairy Australia actively participates in major policy discussions that have the potential to have an impact on the sector, providing credible, fact-based information to ensure the dairy industry is being effectively represented.
In this 12-month parental leave contract you will work as part of a cross functional team and will be responsible for providing policy research, analysis and advice to the Australian dairy industry on issues relating to biosecurity, animal health and welfare and microbiological risks.
Other areas where you will have an impact include:
- On behalf of Dairy Australia and the dairy industry, develop well-researched, evidence-based policy proposals, recommendations and solutions
- Monitor and identify relevant policy developments to industry and proactively communicate those to internal and external stakeholders
- Prepare industry submissions, policy analysis and critical review for government and other policy influencers
- Help to develop strategic alliances and relationships with key regulatory and industry organisations and other relevant agencies and influencers
- Foster a collaborative and consistent approach across Dairy Australia on policy issues

Ideally you will have a tertiary background in Agricultural Economics, Science, Public Policy or relevant experience in similar role. An understanding of agriculture and food policy and regulatory environment at a national and international level will support you to be successful, as will the ability to deliver on programs in a cross-functional team environment.
The ability to undertake some travel will be key, as you will be required to travel to Canberra and dairy regions nationally, from time to time.
