About AEGN

The Australian Environmental Grantmakers Network (AEGN) is a member organisation that aims to harness the power of philanthropy to help protect our environment and build a sustainable future. Our mission is to grow effective funding for the environment and climate change.

The AEGN works with philanthropic funders who want to become more effective in their giving to address environmental and climate change issues. The AEGN is a trusted place where members learn and share, are inspired and informed, and come together to fund some of the greatest challenges of our times.

Since our establishment in 2008, we have seen the powerful impact like-minded environment funders can make by collaborating to ensure projects and organisations receive the funding they need to act on climate change and biodiversity decline.

About the role

The AEGN has been able to drive significant philanthropic funding to the environment by influencing and advising our members. The Philanthropy Manager Nature is key to continuing this increased giving trend.

This role is part of a small team of Philanthropy Managers who work closely together with the CEO, each taking the lead on a specific environmental issue area, and each responsible for supporting a set of members. Responsibilities include;

  • Using your nature/biodiversity expertise to contribute to thought leadership within the membership and the philanthropic community more broadly.
  • Facilitating groups of donors around the AEGN’s mission but with a particular focus on outcomes for nature.
  • Providing strategic advice to members to support them with their environmental giving with a particular focus on nature.
  • Leading the day-to-day management of assigned programs and/or projects, such as the corporate membership program, next generation givers program, project clearinghouse, etc.
  • Curating and delivering high-profile events to engage members and encourage giving.
  • Developing and maintaining tools and communications content to meet members’ needs.
  • Leading the development of strategy and planning for nature and its integration into the overall AEGN strategy and plans.
  • Being the primary contact for assigned members, building a deep understanding of their needs, and responding accordingly, including facilitating targeted networking amongst members and other funders.
