Description

An opportunity has become available for a Pharmacovigilance Associate in a permanent, part-time role 3 days per week. Based at Rhodes in Sydney and reporting to the Regulatory Affairs Director you will assist with tasks and duties relevant to the reporting of adverse events for Zoetis range of pharmaceutical and biological veterinary medicines. You will work in conjunction with other members of the Pharmacovigilance team to investigate and report adverse events in line with company and APVMA requirements.

Your knowledge of animal physiology, competence in problem solving, along with your demonstrated administrative and organisational skills and your “can do attitude” are critical for this position.

 

Key Accountabilities include:

  • In conjunction with Zoetis’ Product Support team and field veterinarians, investigating and reporting adverse events, including:
    • Summarising the case narrative in a concise and clear manner
    • Understanding Zoetis’ product labels and potential pharmacological effects of certain product types, to enable an appropriate causality assessment to be made
    • Understanding of clinical sign coding in reports including those signs that are serious
    • Submitting all cases including serious cases according to APVMA and company timelines
  • Active participation in departmental team meetings, effectively communicating the status of current responsibilities

Attendance at relevant industry and government seminars/meetings to maintain a current and thorough knowledge of the legislation, standards, guidelines and industry activities for the animal health industry.

 

Personal Attributes required include:

  • A high level of interpersonal skills that can accommodate face to face, telephone and written communications with both divisional and external personnel, such as representatives of the various regulatory agencies
  • A meticulous and informed approach to collection, collation and communication of technical data, as required to prepare the various types of pharmacovigilance submissions
  • Familiarity with the PV Works pharmacovigilance reporting system is an advantage.

 

Education and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in biological science or a related discipline is desirable as is a background in an animal health field such as veterinary practice as a veterinarian or veterinary nurse.
  • Ability to use computer software packages with the willingness to learn additional software packages, specific to company needs as required
  • Prior pharmacovigilance experience is necessary
  • Prior experience with pharmacovigilance requirements for veterinary medicines is highly desirable
