ABOUT US

As a not for profit organisation, AWL operates as the state's largest animal shelter with more than 7,000 incoming animals a year.  Our purpose is to re-home lost, surrendered and abandoned animals with our staff committed to our mission of connecting pets, people and community.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Pet Care Animal Attendant position resides within the Pet Boarding Centre of AWL and involves providing high level care to all animals in the boarding facilities and undertaking administration/customer service functions.  This includes scheduling boarding appointments; handling check-ins and check-outs; cleaning cages and runs; bathing; exercising; feeding; administering medication; and monitoring the behaviour of boarded animals.

Please note:  These are casual roles and days/hours will vary according to business needs.

 

ABOUT YOU 

This position will suit someone who is flexible, energetic, intuitive, and motivated with the following skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of customer expectations with a strong customer focus.
  • Basic animal handling experience is preferred.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks.
  • Must be punctual, reliable and responsible.
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow protocols/procedures in the workplace.

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of vaccination schedules for cats and dogs beneficial.
  • Certificate II in Companion Animal Services is desirable.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Available to work over a seven-day period.
  • Available throughout the year including peak holiday periods and have flexibility to cover shifts for leave absences, if required.
  • Appointment is subject to a functional assessment to ensure physical ability to complete the physical demands of the position.
  • Appointment is subject to a satisfactory National Police Clearance in accordance with AWL Policy.
